Vaishnavi Linga
Trained as an architect in India and an interior designer in Milan, Vaishnavi Linga’s design sensibility has been shaped by both worlds. After completing her Master’s in Interior Design in Milan at Domus Academy, she worked with Locatelli Partners before returning to Hyderabad and founding Val Atelier.
Since its inception in 2018 the studio has completed over fifty projects across residential, retail, hospitality and F&B, with a particular focus on considered, boutique luxury spaces. Its work has been published in Interior Daily in the Netherlands and IndesignLive in Australia, as well as Architectural Digest and ELLE DECOR in India.
An avid traveller, she visits design fairs across Europe and India, drawing on architecture, craft, materiality and the way people live in different places. Raising two young children while building the practice has given her a real sense of how a space has to carry an ordinary day, not only photograph well. That, and the constant exposure to other ways of living, keeps the studio’s language contemporary in expression yet warm, layered and rooted in its context.
The studio itself was designed the way we design for clients: plan first, then a short palette, then the detail. Soft neutrals, warm wood floors and layered texture, with the material library at the centre of it, lit gently and made for exploration.
Stone, timber, plaster and textile are kept where they can be seen in daylight, because a palette decided on a screen rarely survives contact with a real room.
